One of the most beautiful aspects of the United States is that we are a land of immigrants. At one point or another (with the exception of Native Americans), one of our ancestors immigrated here from another country. So many diverse cultures all living together!
We are not only exposed to different languages, but get to dance to different music, witness different pieces of artwork and the best of all taste so many different kinds of food! It’s quite ordinary for us to experience a mash of different cultures all at once without even noticing it; it’s almost like we have taken it for granted. Think about it… every morning as you get out of bed, you sip on you of your Indian Fusion Tea accompanied by a Belgium Waffle. In the background you have Salsa music working its magic as you lounge on your IKEA ottoman. You savor every last bite and allow your blood to warm up, giving you a natural boost to help you commence your day.
Being bilingual or multilingual opens our doors to the full experience that this world has to offer us. It’s nice to be able to understand what those lyrics are that helped wake you up in the morning. We are a world full of beautiful cultural experiences that is enhanced through language.
